Christopher A. Santora, Firefighter
My son Christopher was one of the youngest FF's to die on September 11, 2001. He was 23 years old and was a probationary firefighter. Bob Jackson was his LT. He was an American History teacher before entering the Fire Academy in January 2001. He was passionate about being American and learned all that he could about our country. He related very well to his students but his dream was to become a NYC firefighter like his dad who retired after 40+ years of service as a Deputy Chief. Christopher loved his job and he especially loved being in Engine 54. It was a dream come true for him. As a result of his death 2 daughters joined the Army (one spent 13 mos. in Iraq and 13 mos. in Afghanistan) and two son in laws also joined (one is in Iraq for his 3rd tour of duty). Christopher was the only boy in a family of 5. His four sisters miss him terribly. Christopher was the middle child. He was very vocal about his opinions. He believed that those who did not love America should leave our country and return to their original homeland.
